MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
HAVILAND COLLECTORS INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION
MARCH 6, 2025
A meeting of the Board of Directors of Haviland Collectors International Foundation was held on March 6, 2025. The meeting was held on Zoom.
President Sandy Kramer called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm CST.
Recording Secretary Pro Tem Carolyn Quinlan called the roll. The directors of the Corporation present were: Russell Addiego, Richard Burnham, Dale Caldwell, Fred Daniels, Sandy Kramer, Karen Levin, Jess Peirson, Richard Pryor, Carolyn Quinlan, Kathy Robinson, Julie Stevens, and Judy Wynne. Ex Officio Directors present were Arthur Levin and Alice Pricer. Absent were Nancy Hill and Robert Rorex. Member Amy Rose was also present.
Treasurer’s Report: Treasurer Richard Pryor reported a total equity of $17,731.45.
Membership Report: Karen Levin reported that the current membership is 112, with 8 new members since July 1, 2024.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Backmark: Nothing to report
Editorial: Arthur Levin reported that the Annual will contain 104 pages, and showed the cover.
Information Technology: Nothing to report
Nominations: Arthur Levin reported that the following have been nominated for three year terms: Richard Burnham, reelection; Dale Caldwell, reelection; Richard Field, new; Karen Levin, reelection-perpetual; Shirley Pemberton, past board member; Richard Pryor, reelection-perpetual. Those termed out are Fred Daniels and Julie Stevens.
Membership Development: Nothing to report
Public Relations: Nothing to report
Zoom: On behalf of Nancy Hill, Karen Levin reported that we have now had 19 Zoom meetings, with 30 to 35 in attendance each time. Karen thanked Nancy for initially recommending that we hold these meetings, and for all of the work that she has done to make them so successful.
OLD BUSINESS
2025 Baltimore Conference: Karen Levin, Conference Co-Chair, went over the cover letter. It was discussed and a few minor changes were made. Karen reviewed the budget and tours. Dale Caldwell moved that the conference registration price be $395.00. Seconded by Russ Addiego. Motion carried. Motion was made by Richard Burnham, and seconded by Fred Daniels, that the costs for each of the tours be $70.00. Motion carried. The registration packet was reviewed. After discussion, it was decided to have a Sunday Show and Sale, at an additional cost of $350 for ballroom rental, to be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm for members, and 10:30 to 12:00 for non-members. A motion was made by Dale Caldwell and seconded by Fred Daniels that single day registration costs be as follows: Thursday: $80.00, Friday: $165.00, and Saturday: $165. Motion carried.
NEW BUSINESS
Motion made by Fred Daniels and seconded by Russ Addiego that complementary conference fees be offered to founder Sarah Herwynen in perpetuity. Motion carried.
Karen Levin reported that she had called the Embassy Suites Indianapolis North about a possible 2026 conference location, but they are not able to provide information or a contract more than a year in advance. She will continue to investigate locations, dates and prices.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
It was announced that Fred Daniels recently gave a talk to the San Francisco Ceramics Circle concerning the Hayes service. An email will go out to the membership with a link to the video of Fred’s talk.
ADJOURNMENT
With no further business, Fred Daniels moved to adjourn. Motion seconded by Russ Addiego. Motion carried and the meeting was adjourned at 7:14 pm CST.
