MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OF
HAVILAND COLLECTORS INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION

A meeting of the Board of Directors of Haviland Collectors International Foundation was held via Zoom on July 1, 2021.

President Dale Caldwell called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm CDT.

Recording Secretary Shirley Pemberton called the roll. The Directors of the Corporation present were Dale Caldwell, Nancy Hill, Sandy Kramer, Karen Levin, Shirley Pemberton, Rich Pryor, Carolyn Quinlan, Paul Robertson, Kathy Robinson, and Judith Wynne. Ex Officio board members Parliamentarian Alice Pricer and Editor Arthur Levin were also present. Fred Daniels, Bonnie Kline, Directors Emeritus Robert Rorex and Grace Graves were absent.

The purpose of this meeting was to determine if we were going to have a November 2021 Conference in Palm Springs. Karen Levin reported that she had sent out a conference survey to the membership. She received 55 responses. Of those, 25 were definite, with another 10 probable or possible.

The decision was made that a somewhat scaled down conference WILL be held later this year in Palm Springs. Karen will be contacting the Embassy Suites in Palm Desert to confirm the dates and finalize the contract.

There will be a smaller benefit auction. The specific type of auction was discussed and it was decided that no auctioneer would be needed. Several members have volunteered to be the auctioneer. A request for each attendee to make a 100% donation of at least one item, with a maximum of two, for the auction will be included with the registration packet. With a direct donation to the organization, it is possible that no sales tax will need to be collected.

A motion was made by Richard Pryor, seconded by Paul Robertson, to establish a registration fee of $325 per person if the 8% tax is required, and $300 if we do not have to pay the tax. Motion carried. Registration is requested to be received by September 30. Late registration will reluctantly be allowed but must be received by October 15.

Coordinating with Karen, Richard Pryor and Nancy Hill volunteered to work on the Thursday Tour.

A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Sandy Kramer, seconded by Judy Wynne. Motion carried

President Dale Caldwell adjourned the meeting at 8:18 pm CDT.

Respectfully Submitted,

Shirley Pemberton
