Dear Haviland Collectors,
We cordially invite you to join us on the 2017 HCIF fourteen-day tour to France. The dates are September 25 through October 8. This tour is two days longer than our 2013 tour. We will visit some new venues that we promise you will enjoy, as well as those most important to Haviland collectors, such as the Haviland Factory and Museum, St. Yrieix le Perche (the site of the original kaolin deposits), and the Musee national Adrien Dubouche in Limoges. In Paris, we will visit Notre Dame Cathedral, the Musees d'Orsay, Rodin, Bourdelle, Arts et Metiers, and the Petit Palais. We will visit two large antique fairs, the Foire de Chatou and Marche aux Puces. We have also found some new restaurants that you are going to love. Please click the link below to see the detailed itinerary.
A highlight of our tour is a day at the Foire de Chatou, a huge antiques and food fair near Paris. We have been invited to the Galerie d'Albis, once the atelier of French artists Fance Franck and Francine Del Pierre. HCIF members Marie and Jean-Claude Segonds will once again welcome us to their home in the Limoges countryside. We will possibly also have the wonderful opportunity to visit Reynou, home of Charles Edward Haviland, as well as La Maison Jouxtens, former home of the late Jean d'Albis and current home of Christine and Antoine d'Albis.
We have incorporated more free time into our schedule than we had in our 2013 tour, so that you can visit other places that may interest you. We will, of course, have suggestions on where to go and what to see, as well as good restaurants to try. Everyone will be provided with an extensive list of Paris museums. When not on the tour bus, the Metro is the cheapest way to get around, and we will help you navigate it.
The cost of the tour is $5,299 per person (double occupancy), which includes round-trip airfare from Chicago, all hotel accommodations in France, trip insurance, admissions to all museums, our personal tour guide, transportation to all venues via deluxe motor coach, daily breakfast buffets, many other meals, and gratuities to the guide and driver. Everyone will receive fifty euros upon arrival so that nobody will have to scramble for usable money on the first day. Please let us know on your registration form if you will require a wheelchair or walker. Accommodations will be made.
We will depart as a group from Chicago at 6:00 pm, so everyone must be at O'Hare by 3:00 pm on September 25. For those of you arriving in Chicago prior to September 25, we will make arrangements for a good rate at an airport hotel, as well as for the night of October 8.
A detailed itinerary is available at the link below. The registration form will be available shortly. A passport valid through April of 2018 is required. Please make certain now that your passport is valid through at least April of 2018, and make arrangements accordingly. Do it now. Do not wait until the last minute.
A minimum of twenty people is required to make this tour a reality.
